100TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY RESCHEDULED

“Sadly, the pandemic issue has forced us to cancel, more accurately –postpone- our anniversary celebration scheduled for July 18, 2020.  We are planning to reschedule the event for next year #100+1in2021   A date has not yet been selected, but stay tuned for more details soon.  We’re still going to celebrate the last 100 as we move into the next 100!

Mark your calendars to join us as we celebrate 100 years of Scout camping ‘Round the Pond – July 18th, 2020. Hope to see you there!

-Event Program-

In honor of celebrating Goose Pond’s 100 years, we would love for you to  join us throughout the day of Fun and Exciting  Activities, Food, Tours, Campfire and more!

This event is free of charge to all.  However, if you can, we encourage you to make a donation!

12:00 p.m:  Gates open; visitor’s welcome;  registration open;  gathering period;  camp program areas open;  concessions available in the dining hall

2:00 p.m:  Opening on Parade Field; sky diver; flag ceremony; welcome & rededication

2:30 p.m – 6:00 p.m:  Program areas open; numerous historical displays; trading post open (100th
Anniversary items available); interview recording taking place; historical timeline; Goose Pond Hall of Fame; time
capsule; silent auction; flea market for Scout items; branding; tomahawk & knife throwing; OA Native American cultural display by Lowwapaneu Lodge members; commemorative tree planting; documentary viewing party; Dan Beard Cabin ribbon cutting; and much, much more
Tours – Beginning at the administration building every 30 minutes
Affinity gatherings – 3:00 – 3:30 PM: Camp Staff;  3:30 – 4:00 PM: Order of the Arrow @ OA Site; 4:00 – 4:30 PM: Wood
Badge; 4:30 – 5:00 PM: NYLT / Great Medicine

5:45 p.m – 6:00 p.m: Colors on the Parade Field; vespers

6:00 p.m – 7:30 p.m: Dinner in the dining hall (donations encouraged)

8:00 p.m – 9:00 p.m: Closing campfire; memorable program; slide show; Eagle on his Chest; Fireworks and campfire ashes

PLANT A TREE

100 Trees for 100 Years. In honor of our camps turning 100 years old, help us plant 100 oak trees in our council area. The trees will be planted at Camp Acahela and Goose Pond as well as public parks and other areas in our communities where scouting lives. Learn More Now

CENTENNIAL AWARD

Celebrate our 100th anniversary and earn a very cool, limited-edition medal! It can be earned by Scouts and adults as well as alumni.The requirements can be completed in full at summer camp but can also be done any time between January 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021. Don’t miss out on earning something very unique!
